LIFT INVERTER OR UPS is an OFF Starting Lineups to three major components: charger, inverter, and batteries. Because the majority of elevators use 3 PH power supplies, the UPS is also three-phase input and three-phase output. This means that the LIFT UPS takes three phase power and feeds it to the elevator while simultaneously charging the batteries. In the event of a power outage, the inverter enters battery mode and generates three-phase output to power the load. Depending on the configuration of the variable frequency drive (VFD / V3F) used by the elevator, this transition takes between 15-20 seconds. When the mains supply or utility is restored, the elevator is automatically switched to the mains supply and battery charging begins. The backup time can be increased from 2-3 hours to 8 hours depending on the size and number of batteries used.
Various parameters such as normal power cut duration, type of lift ( with or without VFD ), lift motor capacity, if the building is residential or commercial, number of floors & number of flats, usage of Lift and any other load such as staircase / parking / garden lights, water or fire-fighting pump CCTV or any other similar needs to be backed up are considered when designing the Lift back up power solution.
